Let’s Tackle Cancer, January Auction – Post script

Just a few words to summarise the January Auction.

First, the response, both in terms of level and quality of donations, and the buyer’s generosity, reflects very favourably the true spirit of fly-fishing.

Second, a huge ‘thank you’ to the members of this forum - www.flyforums.co.uk. Sometimes we’re seen as pedantic, argumentative, fluffy, capricious, crude and moronic – and that’s just on a good day. But that’s just good old British irony at play.

Third, thanks go to www.flyforums.co.uk - our hosts, and particularly to Sofi and Paul for their assistance.

Personally, (and Mrtrout agrees) I’m proud of the way everyone has responded to this appeal. We’ve raised well in excess of £1000 in our first month, all of which is going directly to Cancer Charities; and we have over twice as many Lots listed for our February Auction!

With everyone’s help we can drive this forward and actually make a significant contribution in the battle against cancer.

Our sincere thanks

Hi all, just a quick post to thank Brian for his outstanding work on the charity.
Since we kicked this off in early December, it has been a massive learing curve in many ways.
More so for me as Brian isn't a technophobe like me, even though he is MUCH older, ahem!!
I think the one thing I have learn't from all this, is how people I have never met, have stepped up to the mark, and put their money where their mouth is.
It has been a very moving and humbling experience to date, so many people touched by this dreadful disease.
And here we are one month in, and well over £1000 in the pot, a credit to everyone.
Sincere thanks again to Brian, Dave, Edd, and Colin, for their unending work and support, throughout, I couldn't have done it without them.
We have a long way to go yet, so keep it coming, as long as we keep it up, we can hopefully make a big difference to a few sufferers and the research side of things.
My thanks again. ( Mr Trout), Steven.

  2. Thanks for the kind words Steven, but it was your vision.
